Kastoria is located at the west end of northern Greece. The city unfolds amphitheatrically, 620m above sea level. It is built on a peninsula that penetrates Orestiada Lake, in the shade of the impressive mass of Grammos and Vitsi mountains. Kastoria is world famous for its fur industry along with its great history and culture. In Kastoria, the visitor can witness and admire important works of Byzantine art. Museums all over the city confess a passage from the history to the modern times of the city. The Lake of Kastoria, one of the most beautiful in the Balkans, is directly linked to the character, history and development of the city. It has been classified as 'Monument of Natural Beauty' by the ministry of Culture and it has been integrated in the European Network, 'Nature 2000'.
